The Studio

The McGrath Percussion Studio is located in the Adams Hill neighborhood of Glendale, California and equipped with a full range of instruments:

snare drums and practice pads
5 piece drum set
marimba, bells, xylophone, timpani and vibes
congas, bongos, djembes and more
accessory instruments such as triangles, tambourines, cymbals and castanets

The Studio has a sound system for playback with recordings and/or a metronome, in addition to a library of hundreds of recordings, method books, solos, ensembles, scores and articles. There is always ample, free parking available.

Policies

Students are expected to show up to lessons on time, well-prepared and having all sticks, mallets and music with them. They must own, rent or have regular access to all instruments studied in lessons. For at-home practice, students must also have a metronome, music stand and hearing protection. It is always my goal to make lessons fun, creative and exciting. One key element to an enjoyable, rewarding learning experience is consistent practice. I encourage students to follow the philosophy of pedagogue Dr. Shinichi Suzuki:
